Why Elixel

Built to hold up in the real world.

Pall-Ex delivery drivers manage their rounds in an app we designed and built. The Rock Pool Project runs its UK-wide events from a Webflow site its own team keeps up to date. Whether it's a website, a platform or an app, we build for real users and everything that changes after launch.

  • The right platform for the job: Webflow, WordPress or Craft CMS for websites, chosen around how your team works, and Ionic with Capacitor for apps that launch on iOS and Android from one codebase.
  • Joined up from research to release: the people who research and design your product stay involved through the build, so nothing gets lost along the way.
  • Built to connect: we integrate with the systems you already run, from booking platforms and CRMs to third-party APIs such as Awin.

What's included

How we can help

Websites

Websites on Webflow, WordPress or Craft CMS, designed around your users and built so your team can update content without a developer. Fast, accessible and ready for search from day one.

Web platforms & apps

Customer portals, dashboards, internal tools and cross-platform mobile apps for iOS and Android. Built in short cycles and tested on real devices before release.

Iterative product improvement

Launch is where the learning starts. We analyse reviews and analytics, talk to your users, then scope and ship improvements in regular releases, alongside the fixes and updates that keep it running.

How we work

From first idea to the next release

We combine over a decade of product development experience with the latest AI tools to speed up the parts of development that don’t need a human: scaffolding, repetitive code and test coverage. That leaves our developers more time for the decisions that matter.

The result is working software sooner, more releases in front of real users, and changes made while they’re still cheap.

Launch isn’t the end. We keep learning from how people use your product and improve it release by release, as your users and business change.

Step 1

Research & design

Understand your users, then design what to build

Step 2

Build

Working software in short cycles

Step 3

Test & launch

Tested, then launched to the web or app stores

Step 4

Iterate

Learn from real use, then release again

FAQs

Questions we often hear

Something else on your mind? Book a discovery call and ask us directly.

How much does a website or app cost?

It depends mainly on four things: how many features the first release needs, whether you need a website, a web platform, a mobile app or a mix, how many existing systems it connects to, and how much research and design is already done. Building apps cross-platform with Ionic keeps costs down, because one codebase serves both iOS and Android. We give you a clear estimate after a short discovery phase, so you know the cost before the build starts.

How long does a project take?

Most app and platform projects start with a design sprint of four to six weeks, as with Pall-Ex and Healix. Websites are usually quicker. Build time then depends on scope. We agree a release plan up front and ship in stages, so you see working software early rather than waiting for one big launch.

Which technologies do you use?

For websites we use Webflow, WordPress or Craft CMS, chosen after discovery around who will edit the site and what it needs to do. For mobile apps we use Ionic and Capacitor. We've been building cross-platform apps since 2012, when we started out with PhoneGap, and today one codebase runs on iOS and Android and can share code with a web version of your product.

Can we update the website ourselves?

Yes. Whichever platform we use, we set up the content management system around how your team works and show you how to use it, so day-to-day changes don’t need us.

Can you take over or improve an existing app?

Yes. For Happy Student we took their existing iOS app, added AI-powered advice, automated their offers through Awin, added analytics and launched it on Android.

Do you build web platforms as well as websites and apps?

Yes. We build customer portals, dashboards and internal tools, such as WPA’s customer portal and LiveWest’s digital assessment tool.

What happens after launch?

We keep improving it with you. We analyse reviews and analytics, talk to your users, then scope and release improvements in regular cycles. Alongside that we handle monitoring, fixes, browser and OS updates and hosting, so it keeps running smoothly.

Do you only work with clients in Plymouth and Devon?

No. Elixel was founded in Plymouth and our team now works across the UK, with clients in Devon, the South West and beyond, in person and remotely.
