The Challenge
The Rock Pool Project’s passion for marine life was infectious, but their brand and website had fallen behind. They weren’t meeting the needs of the organisation or inspiring their audience of families, students, and volunteers. Ben had a bold vision to update their digital presence, create a future app for their "Bioblitzers," and expand their vital conservation work across the UK. To get there, they needed a brand and website that reflected their mission.

The Solution
Together, we embarked on a journey to redefine their brand identity and build a dynamic new website. The goal was to create an engaging online presence that was as vibrant and exciting as a day spent exploring the coastline, making it easy for people to get involved and for funders to see their impact.
Refreshing The Rock Pool Project Branding
Our collaboration was built on a deep dive into what makes The Rock Pool Project unique.
It all started with a brand workshop to get to the heart of their story, allowing us to define their values, tone of voice, and visual direction. From this collaborative session, we brought their personality to life with exciting mood boards and colour palettes that reflected their free, accessible, and fun approach. We also explored their brand architecture to ensure the relationship between the parent organisation and its projects was crystal clear. This foundational work led to the creation of fresh logo concepts, and a comprehensive set of brand guidelines. This complete toolkit covered everything from typography and colours to a custom suite of sea creature icons, and importantly, it set clear rules for imagery that reflected their conservationist spirit.

Website
With a revitalised brand in place, we started work on the website by putting ourselves in the shoes of their users—from rock poolers to funders—to identify the key questions they would have. This user-first research informed a clear sitemap, intuitive user journeys, and a logical content hierarchy with prominent calls to action - with the aim to drive event signups. To bring it all to life, we built the site in Webflow, which is a dynamic and flexible platform with in-built content management controls. This allowed the team to easily update content themselves, keeping their community informed about the latest Rock Pool Challenge events.

The Outcome
Since the launch, The Rock Pool Project has expanded from 2 to 9 UK hubs, using their new marketing materials to reach new communities. The result is a brand that reflects their personality and a website that inspires a growing number of people to easily sign up and be part of the movement of exploring our wonderful coastline and the creatures that live there.
